Hi, this is Punny.
When I started noticing that people looked at me strangely on the street, cars let me pass on the road, male doctors opened cabinet doors for me in the clinic, and female baristas whispered slyly to each other, I began to think more seriously about privacy. A couple of times, people even commented “prostitute” on my photos. That was the moment I realized how vulnerable we can be online.
For the record, I do not wear mini skirts, have huge lips, or use 3D eyelashes. Most people would probably describe my appearance as “nothing special.” Maybe I imagined some of these situations, but the importance of privacy on the internet is very real.
Why Online Privacy Matters
Today, anyone can insult or harass you online without facing consequences. I experienced this firsthand while searching for a job. My resume included a photo, and one of the fake employers began attacking me with threats from multiple accounts after I refused to have a call with him. This incident became the final push that made me reconsider how much of my identity I should reveal online.
Schools now teach students not to share their personal lives on the internet, and there is a good reason for that. Protecting your identity can help prevent harassment, stalking, and unwanted attention.
Launching the Punny Panda YouTube Channel
I am excited to announce that I will soon be launching my YouTube channel. The work on my website is nearly complete, and the platform will feature:
Game reviews
Psychology insights to help us better understand the world and each other
The manga “Witch’s Pie”
Development of an upcoming game
The book “Dan and the Dragon Maiden” a heartwarming story for fantasy lovers
A store with exclusive, high-end illustrations for collectors and supporters of the Punny Panda brand
In many ways, I will act as your assistant, almost like an AI, guiding you through this creative universe.
Do You Really Need to Show Your Face on YouTube?
This question led me to experiment with my on-screen appearance. Since I live in an older apartment without a modern interior and do not have perfectly smooth skin, I decided to enhance the visual presentation by purchasing wigs. I bought three: green, pink, and black-pink.
After several video tests, I realized that none of these options felt right. This made me reconsider whether showing my face was necessary at all. As an artist, I have the ability to create animated content, even though it requires more time and effort.
Face vs. Faceless YouTube Channel
Advantages of Showing Your Face
Builds trust and authenticity
Strengthens personal connection with the audience
Enhances personal branding when paired with charisma
Disadvantages
Increased risk of online harassment and hate
Loss of privacy
Greater pressure regarding appearance
Advantages of a Faceless Channel
Enhanced privacy and safety
Reduced viewer aggression
Stronger focus on storytelling and artistic branding
Ideal for artists, animators, and introverted creators
My Final Decision
Ultimately, I decided to sell the wigs and choose the faceless approach. Although I sometimes miss the creative opportunity to perform on camera, I value the increased sense of security and the potential for greater audience loyalty without revealing my identity.
It is impossible to please everyone. There will always be people who spread negativity simply because you choose to share your ideas. By focusing on creativity rather than appearance, I can build a more positive and meaningful connection with my audience.
Meet Punny and Panda
